Mike Dunlap 3-on-3 Full Court Drill

Full court 3-on-3 provides a tremendous diagnostic test to determine who on your team can and cannot play basketball. It exposes players in a meaningful way, demonstrates which players know how to win, showcases team and individual defensive capabilities, and improves cardiovascular fitness.

This drill also allows you as a coach to manipulate the rules to emphasize key principles: no dribble, only scores after entering the post, one ball screen per possession, etc.

The handout below outlines the rules and structure from St. John’s assistant coach Mike Dunlap on how to run an effective, competitive full court 3-on-3 drill.
